Years ago, Kosindra was situated at the far end of the Gayakwadi State. Nearly 150 Years ago, there lived races like Rajput, Koli, Bhil and a few Patidar, Bania and Brahmin Families. The Patidars worked hard to earn the livelihood by Converting the barren land into farms.

As soon as the Primary and Secondary Education became involuntary in the Gayakwadi state, Kosindra opened an elementary school on Jahuary, 1,1887. A very Sensitive and Sincere Teacher called KarunaShankar Kuberji Bhatt was appointed in 1893 and with his tiresome efforts, a Gurukul Style Ashram Started in 1927.It continued spreading the message and the teachings of Sri.

Ravindranath Tagore Unti 1930.The Ashram was Very well-maintained by the united, cooperative efforts by the People under the kind leadership of “ Daji” , Shri Ranchhodbhai Kashibhai Patel. The Ashram was located on the banks of the river Haren, in the midst of Splendid nature. The disciples learnt Sanskrit, Gujarati, Bengali and English. People did ‘Prabhat Feri ’, morning rounds.Popular slogans and motivating proverbs were written on the walls of the houses which became a common way of ‘Sanskara’ to all Villagers.

In 1930, Mahatma Gandhi Announced ‘Dandi-Kuch’ and the Lahore Conference Announced ‘ Complete Freedom’. Guruji attended the Lahore Conference. Guruji also Visited the Shantiniketan Ashram. He took several Students with him to get them admitted to the Shantiniketan Ashram. Those who went with him were 1. Chinmay Shivabhai Patel (Kashipura) 2. Shantaben Mohanbhai Patel (Chikhodra) 3. Shankarbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel (Kosindra) 4. Kesurbhai Ghelabhai Patel (Kashipura) 5. Premilaben Patel (Kashipura) 6. Mohandas Mathurbhai Patel (Chikhodra) 7. Bhagubhai Narotambhai Patel (Bhagudatt Arya, Kashipura) 8. Urmilaben Shankarbhai Patel (Kosindra) Revaben Ambalal Patel (Raj bodeli) 9.Bhailalbhai Chhitabhai Patel (Kosindra) & 10. Ambalal Khushalbhai Patel (Raj bodeli) Guruji came back leaving them there in Calcutta.

During the ‘Bharat Chhodo – Quit India’ movement, Kosindra and many other neighbouring Villages took very active part.

About ten People were arrested and sent to jail. Underground activities went on, and motivating liflets were distributed. Processions became a routine.

Rekhaben Patel Played a key-role in the activities for women empowerment.women became very active in many activities and celebrated several festivals with a new light. Kosindra became a Place to visit for the neighbouring villages dunig these outstanding women activities.

Kosindra was making tremendous progress. There were the English medium school, library, a gym, a kinder school, a co-operative society and pretty soon new institution like BAPS Swaminarayan Temple, BAPS Pramuk Swami Hospital an animal hospital, Co-Operative bank, modern cemetery, Brahmakumari center, Vaijanath temple, Gayatri temple, Hanuman temple, Kuldevi Verai Mata, Bhathuji, Ramji Mandir, Ambamata Mandir, Neerat Ashram, a senior’s residence run by Geeta serasamaj Trust, a G.E.B. substation etc.started. Kosindra now became the central station for the Samaj.

Infra-Structure became strong.There were roads Connecting with Bhatpur,Bodeli and Rajpipla.As businesses grow, new and modern road are being built.

A few miles away from Kosindra, a water-dam is built near Raj Vasana which has helped farmers to grow rich crops and gain financial security. Quality of life is changing. People now live a modern style of convenient, comfortable life. A great efforts and contribution towards these activities by Late Sri Trikambhai Gokalbhai Patel is very well appreciated.

Under Narmada Yojana, one of the main channels of the Sardar Sarovar Passes by the Village. The leaders of the Village requested the Gujarat Govt. outhority to grant a link from the main Narmada Channel to this channel, the request was granted, a major construction was done near Rajbodeli and now Kosindra and the Villages around get the benefit of the Narmada Yojana all year round.

Many Students from the Village have gone abroad looking for better opportunities, education, work and business. The all are making notable progress.

Ambubhai Desaibhai Patel and Ambubhai Lallubhai Patel have been awarded the Rashtrapati Awards for the Best Teachers and this has brought Kosindra, a national recognition. Ambubhai D.Patel, the Gujarat Pustakalay fame, has received several other awards and Kosindra is Proud of it.

Several other outstanding individuals need to be worth-mentioned here for their contributions towards cooperation, progress, unity and social services and they are : Sri.Kabhai Kaka (Vasana), Late Sri Ranchhodbhai Kashibhai Patel “Daji” (Kosindra), Late Sri Shivabhai Kashibhai Patel (Kashipura), Late Sri Trikambhai ,Gokalbhai Patel, “Kaka” (Kosindra) and Late Sri Trikambhai Mathurbhai Patel. “Daji” (Kosindra),

Sri Navinbhai Shankarbhai Patel was the first Person from Kosindra to come to America.

Chikhodra is located at the outskirt of the Gayakvadi State. It is a small village on The banks of the river Heren. The Physical Structure of its land makes an English letter E.Across from Chikhodra is Kosindra. There is a low level bridge over the river that connects the two Villages and has been very useful for daily routine.

Many great personalities have brought name and fame to chikhodra.

1.Late Shri Chimanbhai Jivabhai Patel, the former chief minister of Gujarat was from Chikhodra. He did many good things for his community. His Contribution forwards building the Narmada Dam has been a long blessing for the farmers of Gujarat.

2.Late Sri Desaibhai Jivabhai Patel was very well known for experimenting with different methods to get better crops and he was awarded a “krushi Pandit Medal” by the state Government. There are Several outstanding places, such as the elementary school, Raj Rajeshwar Mahadev, water-works, verai mata temple which keep the village strong and united.

3.Late Smt. Kantaben Shankarlal Patel was awarded the Rashtrapati Award for the best teacher. Smt. Sadhanaben Sureshbhai Amin the daughter of Dr.Vitthalbhai Ramdasbhai Patel.was the first Person from Chikhodra to come to America.

Rajbodeli is located on the outskirf of the old Chhotaudaipur State. At the entrance of the Village,there are the remains of an old vaav (deep well with steps going in to the bottom), and one of its pillars is still standing near the big trunk of vad (banyan tree). There are also the remains of constructed pits near by which suggest that at some point in the past, some sort of painting business might have existed.

The village is composed of Leva patels, Rajputs, Tadvis, Nayaks, and many others. There is a river on the west, and there is the Narmada – dam on the east.The main channel of the sardar sarovar flows under the river (saifor method).

There are Preliminary facilities here, such as the elementary school, public library and water – works.

Dr. Rajendrabhai Ambalal Patel was the first person from Rajbodeli to come to America.

Chhotaudaipur was an Independent State before the Independence of the Country. It existed as a very well developed state.

The Gayakwadi ruler of the State announced to give away land for free to those Sophisticated and Educated Families from the Neighbouring States to come and live in this state.This is how Kashipura came into existence on January 23,1909.Shree Kashibhai Patel was Living in Kosindra with his three sons. He sent two of his sons,Shivabhai and Ghelabhai to start a new life under the scheme. This Village was named ‘Kashipura’ in honor of Mr.Kashibhai Patel.

The village is on the banks of the river Heren. Many Communities like Leua Patidar, Koli, Rajput, Tadvi, Nayak, Harijan reside here.There are two Parallel treets of the Patidar houses with a fifty-one Foot wide road in between.

In the course of time, the village has succeeded in bringing several modern facilities for the service to the community. It has Educational Institutions from the kindergarden to the secondary school level. To count some of the other attractions, the village has an Ayurvedic Clinic, a Co-Operative Society, a Cooperative deary, Yuvak Mandal, Nurses Quarters, Panchayat Ghar, Samaj Ghar, Dharmashala, Teacher’s union, Bus Station, Farmer’s Club, Self-halp Mandal, Water-works, Public Library, Boy’s Hostel, Temple, Cemetery, Panchvati Garden, Vankutir.

Late Sri Dinubhai Amaidas Patel, a Gandhi believer and freedom fighter was the first one to join the Satyagraha Kuch from Shivrajpur and go to the Sabarmati Jail. Late Sri Lalubhai Amaidas Patel, the jewel of the Bhagat dada family went to the Pandicheri Ashram at age 19 and earned a nick-name as ‘Junior Aurbindo’. After Living a full, Sacred Life , he died in Pandicheri in A very well-known educationist, Late Sri Ishvarbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel Created songs and Bhajans and Edited Potriotic Songs. His Patriotic songs have been published as a book, and to his credit and honor, the State Governmant has approved this book to be distributed to all elementary Schools in Gujarat.

Mrs.Ushaben Dahyabhai Patel was the first Lady Sarpanch in the Village, and her Vision and effeorts towards the welfare and development of the women has been outstanding.

With united efforts of the NRI’s and the natives of the Village, “ One Hundred Year Mahotsav ” was Celebrated for two days, on 27th and 28th of December of 2008. The descendent of Late Maharaja Shree Fatehshihji, Maharaja Aishwarya Pratap Shihji and Rajmata Nirmalkumari Presided the event and made it glorious and historical.

Kashipura holds its name and respect in the Samaj because of its outstanding wholesome growth and development.

Smt.Sarojben Mahendrabhai Patel has been awarded the Rashtrapati Award for the best Teacher.

Sumanbhai Bhailalbhai Patel was the first from Kashipura to come to America.

Salpura was a part of the Chhotaudaipur State before the independence.It is situated on the banks of the river Heren and at the

sunthern end of The Bodeli Taluka. It was first known as Kuberpura. One of the ancestors of Late Dinabhai Vanmalidas Patel, Shree Kuberbhai was the first one to start residing here and as a result this village was named after him.In the course of time,people from seven other villages in the area came and resided here,and the village was re-named as satpura or salpura.

The village is composed of the leva or leva patel, Udabhagat patel,tadvi Harijan and many others During the Holi–Dhuleti Festival, a local fair is organied.The rare attraction of this fair is that some people during this fair won’d walk across burning coals,and this happens even in the present time.

Sri Shashikantbhai Mohanbhai Patel was the first from salpura to go Germany than he come America . Now he resides in Baroda.

This village is habituated on the banks of the river Haren, at the far western end of the former Chota-udaipur state. It is believed that the village is about two hundred years old.

Vandha and Chalamali are two villages connected with each other, and any two neighbors in the village are from those two ditterent villages.

Races like Leva Patidars, Uda-Bhakta Patidars,Koli,nayaks,Tadvis etc. live in the village.There are elementary school,High school,municipal health clinic,co operative society, Police-station, Girls’ school and the like in the village.

Mrs Sunandaben Navinbhai Patel was the first person from Vandha – Chalamali to come to America she is the daughter of Sri Ambalal Trikambhai Patel.

kalidoliKali-Doli that originally belonged to the Palasani state was habituated around 1910. There was a small pond there and its clay was black. And also there was a mahuda free near by and its fruit-color was also black. Based on these two things, the Village was named ‘Kali-Doli’.

Races like uda-Bhakta Patel, Leva Patel, Bhil,Muslims, Tadvi, Bhangi and the like reside here. There are Shiv temple, Swaminarayan temple, water-works, Kali-Doli Farm and Elementary School in the Village. People live with great co-operation and unity.

Mrs.Bhartiben Jayprakash Patel was the first individual from Kali-Doli to come to America. She is the daughter of Late Sri Bhagubhai Zaverbhai Patel.

vasnaVasna is also one of the villages of the former Gayakwadi empire. Originally the village was situated near the Hanuman temple which is about two kilometers away from the present location. Back then, the river Haren being far, water was a scarcity. So People moved close to the river back in 1850. There was a bamboo forest. People cleanes it up and resided there. As a result, now the Village is known as vasna, meaning the bamboo place.

Various races like the Bhakta patidar, Leva Patidar, Vania, Tadvi, Nayak, Harijan, Muslims, Kumbhar and the like reside in vasna.

Hindus and Muslims live together with unity and harmony. The whole village joins hands and celebrates the festival of ‘Tajias’ with great pomp and show.

The village had the first Municipal Clinic in this Gayakwadi tenure. People from the surrounding area take advantage of that clinic even today. They have their own People-court and simple cases are taken care of instantly. They have the co operative society, dairy, high school, Ishwaria temple and the jalaram temple. There is Public transportation availabl that makes travelling easy and convenient.

Dr.Jayesh Chandrakant Patel was the first from vasna to come to America. Jayeshbhai is the son of Chandrakant Ghelabhai Patel.

ladhodOriginally the Tadvi-Nayak community resided in Ladhod. Now Vanias from Sankheda-Makni, Patel from Khunvad and Manjrol, Rajputs and Patidars from Kosindra-Vasna and Lachras reside here. There are also some Ranas, Chamars, Nayaks, Harijans and Tadvis.

This Varied Community village has a sugar factory too. The land is fertile because of the Narmada irrigation system and several other tube-wells. Farming is rich because of a variety of crops.

The Sharneshwar temple is located near the old vav. The place is always crowded with the devotees who have religious vows or pledges. It is believed that the Mahadev Ling sinks in at the rate of a millimeter every year.

Each community has a representative to get involved with the socio-economical activities for the development of the village.

Women representatives are also a part of it, and this is unique quality of Ladhod.

Mrs.Meenaben Jayantibhai Patel was the first person from Ladhod to come to America. She is the daughter of Shivrambhai Rughnthbhai Patel.
